A roundabout way to wear

After Aga recently reported on her experiences with babywearing, I have Stephanie's report for you here. Stephanie was one of the first mamas I was allowed to advise. I am very happy that she has written this report for my blog. The rest of the text is now written by her. (Natalie.)

Yes...where do I start now? I am writing this review because Natalie asked me to share about my babywearing experiences. First of all, I want to say that I am not an "ecomama". I had heard of babywearing, but it had not been an issue in my pregnancy.

My husband and I first set out to find a suitable stroller and that was already very difficult. First we had received a stroller as a gift, but unfortunately the operating license had expired, so this model was out of the question. Then we bought a used car, which unfortunately had to move out after a week, because we noticed that the car was moldy from the inside (of course the saleswoman told us nothing about it!). Totally frustrated, we bought a new stroller, which unfortunately cost us almost 600 euros. Finally we thought we had reached our goal and nothing could go wrong.

Then our son arrived and soon we noticed that he didn't really like his stroller. Once we went for a walk and our son just screamed...We were both exhausted afterwards. It was only then that I really started to look into babywearing and was totally amazed at how many models and options there were. First I looked at slings, which I found quite aesthetic. However, I thought about the fact that my child might slip out due to a bad tying method. The fear that he might hurt himself because of me was just too great, so I kept looking around.

I then found the tying method of the Mei Tais quite practical. Not quite free tying, chic design and good fit convinced me theoretically. However, I still had concerns. First, these stretchers are not quite so cheap, secondly, whether I would get along with it at all and thirdly, which model I should probably take. For this I then took the carrying advice of Natalie Clauss. I was able to look at several models and also put them on to see if they were right for me and my son. I decided on a MySol from Girasol, which I also borrowed for little money from Natalie. After that week, I bought my own and started carrying frequently.

I took my son to college in the carrier. He was perfectly comfortable and I could climb stairs and had less stress than I did with the stroller. When the little one had a tummy ache it went into the carrier. When I baked cakes, it went in the carrier. When I had to study, he went in the carrier. Breastfeeding was also super discreet in the carrier, so that was no problem even on the bus. At six months, we switched to the Manduca because the straps of the MySol were cutting in a bit, due to its weight. However, the resale value of the MySol was almost equal to the new price, so this was not a bad thing.

There were few critical voices. Most moms I know also carry, maybe not exclusively, but that's not even necessary. By the way, I sold my stroller very early on again. Unfortunately, at a great loss, although my son had lain there only really rarely in it. What I used much more is the buggy. This we still use today (my son is now 2 :)) and also still the Manduca, although rather rarely, since my son now also prefers to walk and has also become heavier :). Nevertheless, I find them super, for example, at the flea market when the aisles are so narrow and I do not want the little one to run away or but you want to tour with two children and a small car, there is So a stretcher really worth gold :) .

What was not So great, once I had the Manduca incorrectly adjusted and my son was quergelig, unfortunately he could not tell me that the belt presses on the leg. He had an imprint on the leg in the evening And I had a very bad conscience. However, this happened exactly once and I would classify it under "goofy". Today my son would simply tell me that :D .

My husband, unfortunately, I could never inspire for carrying, but I think that's ok. He, on the other hand, thought it was good that I carried our son. He is just like me of the opinion that we would not have needed an expensive stroller, but in hindsight, as you know, you are always smarter. In any case, I think a babywearing consultation is very useful and sensible. I would do it again and again. My conclusion from this story is that it is better to invest in good babywearing advice than in a good stroller that ends up not being used! :)
