Imse Vimse panty diaper
Another pant diaper that we were able to test extensively is the cotton terry pant diaper from Imse Vimse. This is a very slim diaper. You can read about my experience testing it below.
About the manufacturer
The manufacturer Imse Vimse comes from Sweden and was founded in 1988. In addition to cloth diapers, Imse Vimse offers various other sustainable products for children and women. In the assortment, for example, also nursing pads and cloth pads. On the website I can read that practicality and reusability are particularly important to the manufacturer.
Description of the diaper
As can be seen from the title of the article, the diaper tested is a pant diaper. These are fully absorbent, therefore require wetness protection in the form of an overpant made of PUL or greased wool.
Imse Vimse 's pant di aper is available in two sizes. According to the manufacturer, the newborn size should fit from 2.5-5kg. The next size fits from 5kg. I could not find any information about the length of usability here at the manufacturer.
Available is the diaper bspw. in the online store Naturzwergenreich, where it costs 13.90€. The price is in the lower to middle price range of pant diapers for newborns.
Like most other pant diapers, this one, too, is gathered at the legs and back. This is to allow for an optimal fit and prevent stool leakage. In addition, a small absorbent pad is included, which is not attached to the diaper. It can therefore be used with other diapers as well.
Materials
As with XKKO's diaper, this pant diaper is also made of 100% cotton. However, the cotton here has been processed as terry cloth, which is particularly soft. The insert is also made of pure cotton. You can find information about the material properties in my article on material science for cloth diapers.
The fabric is reinforced in the middle area, because this is where the most absorbency is needed.
In the test
This diaper from Imse Vimse is a very slim and narrow pant diaper, which is why we liked to use it on the go during the day. Otherwise, we mainly used it at night. It fit my daughter well right from birth (about 3.5kg). However, it became too small relatively quickly (5kg), which however corresponds to the manufacturer's specifications.
Since the diaper is cut so narrow, have very many overpants fit over it. We have used, for example, the slip overpants of the following manufacturers: disana (62/68), hu-da (S) and Maleja (S). But also Velcro or snap overpants have fit well over it, such as from Bambi Roxy or Blueberry.
This panty diaper did not leave any marks on my daughter even when worn for long periods of time. It closed well on the legs and tummy. Initially, it closed relatively high up (about navel level), but that didn't bother her.
During the day, we used the diaper frequently without the extra liner. The absorbency was well sufficient. At night, the absorbency with the insert was also sufficient. Otherwise, an additional insert could be placed in the diaper if needed.
Washing and drying
According to the manufacturer, the diaper can be washed at 60 degrees. We had no problems during washing. Due to the seperate insert and the rather thin fabric, drying was relatively fast compared to other pant diapers.
After repeated washing without using the dryer, the fabric of the diaper becomes a little firmer, but this has not been disturbing for us.
Conclusion
Imse Vimse 's pant diaper is a slim diapering option for small, slim babies from birth. For larger babies, the diaper will not fit for long. The diaper can also be used well during the day without being thick.
