Lèrole Téchne Flow (prototype)

Once again I was allowed to test a sling prototype. So I had the baby sling Techné Flow from the Italian manufacturer Lèrole here for two weeks.

Cloth information and first impression

Lèrole is a project born from the collaboration of Italian textile artists and mothers who are passionate about wearing. The manufacturer writes on his site that the production has a long tradition and so different techniques and materials could be tested extensively, so that various points such as durability, health aspects and uniqueness were tried to the smallest detail.

The sling that I was allowed to test is made of 100% cotton. Cotton is a very robust and easy-care material, which makes it so popular. The weight per unit area is 250g/m², which is already a bit higher than typical newborn slings, for example, where the weight per unit area is more between 180g/m² and 230g/m². When I unpacked the wipe, it seemed stable and grippy. I was initially concerned that it might be a bit stiff when tied, but more on that later. How the sling will be priced, I can not yet say, which is why I can not judge the price-performance ratio of the cloth. At the moment, none of Lèrole 's slings are for sale.

The name of the scarf, Téchne Flow, has it all. I had to look up the meaning of the word techné, to be honest, and indeed techné is not synonymous with technique. It also seems difficult to describe in today's language. More appropriate words would probably be skill, artistry, craft, or even art teaching. Flow, after all, means to flow. So the whole translation of the name would be something like flowing artistry.

Enough theory... the motif of the sling seems very harmonious and just flowing, there are very gentle wavy lines recognizable, so that the sling name seems appropriate. The colors of the sling seem different depending on the light conditions. Sometimes it looks dark red and créme, sometimes in a very dark pink and a very light pink.

When worn

I had the sling here for a relatively long time for testing, so I can describe you various impressions about it here. The tightening succeeded very well with my son (3 years). It is very grippy, which allowed me to hold it well. Since the sling is also rather thick, I had a lot of fabric in my hand. This can be a little more difficult at first when tying for inexperienced babywearing parents.

The sling supported my son's weight very well, so I could easily carry him for extended periods of time. However, I tend to prefer multi-ply tying methods like the Double Hammock. However, with variations of the Single Backpack with different terminations, the weight distribution was also good. When I tied with the newborn mannequins from the consultations, the cloth was a bit too thick for me personally, so there was a lot of fabric in the back of my knees. Tightening was also more difficult due to the lighter weight. Parents in the babywearing consultations confirmed to me that they would not buy the sling for a newborn.

Washing

This is a test sling, which is why I did not wash it. I don't suspect any problems here, though, as bamboo wool is very easy to care for and the weave also doesn't seem prone to thread pulls. Just follow the manufacturer's washing instructions here.

Conclusion

The sling Téchne Flow is a very comfortable sling for babies from about 6 months, I would say. Before that, I would personally rather reach for a thinner sling. It gives enough support and can be tied well, it goes even better when the children are a little heavier. The quality is impeccable, so I could not find any weaving errors or the like.
