Maize Slings Tri Plum Fairy

The still relatively new Dutch manufacturer Maisaa Slings gave me the opportunity to test one of their slings, the Tri Plum Fairy.

Information about the sling and first impression

Maisaa Slings was founded only in 2016 and has already brought various slings on the market. About Maisaa itself, the founder writes the following on her Facebook page:

Maisaa means walking proud. When are we more proud then when we are wearing our little ones?

With the manufacturer, there are two different types of slings that are released: First, there is the Organic Cotton Line, where the slings are regularly rewoven, so they are part of the standard range of the manufacturer. Next, there is the Exclusive Line, where only between one and twenty slings of a model are produced. The sling I was allowed to test belongs to the Organic Cotton Line and was first released in July 2016. It consists of 100% cotton and has a basis weight of 290g / m². Thus, it belongs to rather thicker slings. The material cotton is very robust and at the same time easy to clean. The pattern Tri is basically available in different colors, but at the moment it is not available. The model Tri Plum Fairy especially has a pattern with, as the name suggests, different triangles in purple and white. The pattern and the weave make it pleasant to the touch.

When worn

I was able to test the sling with different tying methods. Tightening the sling I succeeded well, because I could grip and hold the fabric well. With light babies or in the test with my newborn doll from the Trageberatungen were the tightening due to the thickness of the cloth, however, not quite so easy. Also was here, for my feeling, too much cloth fabric in the back of the knees. With my approximately 12kg-heavy son, this was different, because of course I also needed significantly more fabric when tying. Because of the weight, I preferred tying methods on the back. I found even single-layer binding methods such as the single backpack very comfortable, even when worn for about an hour. I tested here with the Tibetan finish, since the cloth without closure was clearly too long for me with you this binding method. The wrap around cross carrier was also fine for short wear, though I prefer to wear on my back.

Washing

Since this is sling for testing, I have not washed it and can write little on this. However, I suspect that there would be no problems washing it because it is pure cotton, which is very easy to care for. Also, the fabric does not tend to pull threads during the wash cycle.

Conclusion

The Tri Plum Fairy sling from Maisaa Slings is perfect for larger and heavier children. I find the pattern very appealing, but would personally choose a different color, but here there are basically different options. For newborns, I would prefer thinner slings. The price-performance ratio of the cloth is good, as it is also very good quality. For example, I could not find any weaving errors or thread pulls.
