Marisso Aspen Winter

As part of an organized test trip from LovesBabywearing I was allowed to test the sling Aspen Winter from the British manufacturer Marisso. After the test, the sling was affectionately called "fluffy carpet" by me. Why and how my experiences were otherwise, you can read in this article.

Information about the manufacturer and the cloth

Marisso produces its cloths in England and finally has them sewn in Scotland. So they are produced exclusively in Great Britain. The owner of Marisso writes on her website in a small text titled "Once, I had a dream"... which is supposed to remind of the famous speech of Martin Luther King. She describes that her dream of a happy family and the realization of her professional ideas had come true.

The sling was released as a limited edition version on February 5, 2018. The original price of the sling was 230 British pounds, which is equivalent to about 260€. This makes it one of the high-priced slings. The Aspen Winter model was the 4th and most recent model in the Aspen range to date. It has a significantly higher basis weight and a different weave than the other slings.

In terms of color, the cloth is very simple with gray and white and fits well with the name. As a pattern leaves can be seen over the entire width of the cloth. It reminds me a little of the Genesis cloths from Solnce. The wool content in the cloth is barely noticeable, but it makes the cloth much softer than would be initially expected with the high basis weight.

When worn

I tried the sling mainly with my 3-year-old son. Tightening went fairly easily despite the thickness of the sling. It was grippy and therefore did not slip. Probably due to the wool content, it was also very cuddly. On the shoulders it is a real blessing with heavier children. So its weight did not bother me and I got no pressure points. Due to the thickness, single-layer tying methods were also comfortable.

I also briefly tried the sling with the newborn endo dolls from the consultations, but had no great expectations here because it is simply very thick. This was confirmed for the most part. The tightening and tying itself still went relatively well, but there was simply a lot of fabric piled up in the back of the knees.

Washing

According to the manufacturer, the sling may be washed at 30 degrees in the washing machine. I have not washed it myself, because I have only tested it. Personally, however, I would prefer hand washing with a special wool detergent because of the wool content.

Conclusion

The sling Aspen Winter by Marisso is incredibly fluffy, but also a small "carpet" due to the high weight per unit area. Qualitatively, it is very high quality, I could not see any flaws. For large children who are still worn regularly, the sling is very suitable!
