MoniLu Tragehilfe carrier

At the moment I have many full-buckle carriers for testing, including this carrier: Nosítko MoniLu. If you check the blog often, you may notice that there are also some manufacturers from Eastern Europe, which are not yet so well known here.

Information about the stretcher and the manufacturer

MoniLu is a Czech manufacturer, which sews its baby carriers from various slings. In the store, doll carriers are also available and it is possible to borrow the carriers for a fee to test them before buying.

As written above, it is again a full-buckle baby carrier, that is, a carrier that is closed completely with buckles. The price of the carrier is about 3900 Czech crowns, which is the equivalent of about 152€. Depending on which sling was sewn, some models are also cheaper.

According to the manufacturer, the carrier should fit from 2 months (about 55cm) to an age of 2.5 or 3 years (about 95cm). This information does not correspond to my test experience. My 2-month-old daughter is about 60cm tall and the carrier was still much too big for her, but more about that later. For larger children, the information is more correct.

The abdominal belt of the stretcher is conically shaped, slightly wider in front than on the sides. The padding seems soft but stable. The waist belt is closed in the middle with a safety buckle. The bar adjustment is done by sliding a part of the back section on both sides and fixing it to the abdominal belt with Velcro.

At the level of the back of the knees, the fabric is lightly padded. The height of the back section can still be adjusted laterally by means of webbing, although the fabric will then bunch up considerably in the middle. The gatherable headrest is hooked to the straps with elastic bands.

The strap length can be adjusted with three adjustment options, two in the rear, lower area, and there are also padding buckles. However, these are tightened upwards here, which is convenient when wearing the back. The padding is relatively thick and soft. The straps can be worn straight, as well as crossed. However, they are always attached centrally to the back part, which could possibly create too much pressure on the baby's back for smaller babies. The connecting buckle I can be adjusted in height.

When wearing

I first tried to test the carrier with my 2-month-old daughter. But it turned out that it is still much too small for this. Neither the bar width nor the length of the back part fit approximately. In addition, the strap attachment on the back section created a visible pressure on her back. Also, I could not tighten the straps enough, so I didn't feel safe wearing it myself either.

With my 4-year-old son, who roughly fits the maximum size specification of the carrier, it turned out that the carrier was not quite right here either. The back part length still fit relatively well, the bar width was already a bit too narrow.

Also with him, although he is significantly larger, I could not tighten the straps sufficiently. Thus, there was a lot of pressure on the waist belt, which meanwhile no longer supported sufficiently.

Washing

According to the manufacturer, the carrier should be washed by hand. Experience has shown that this should not cause any problems.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, the carrier can not cover the size range that it promises. For children from Gr.80/86 it fits much better. The strap length was too long for me, so that more weight was on the abdominal belt, which becomes uncomfortable as the weight of the child increases. For small babies, I also find the resulting pressure on the back is not optimal.
