Inoshi Baby Carrier

This time I was allowed to test something completely new for me, namely the Inoshi Baby Carrier of the Australian manufacturer Global Tapestry. What is different about it, as in other carriers, you can read in this article.

Information about the carrier and first impression

Jen Brown, the owner of Global Tapestry, had the goal to create a simplified sling with the Inoshi Baby Carrier. But more on that in a moment. Jen is also a babywearing consultant and blogger. In addition to the Inoshi, doll carriers and ring slings are available on her site.

The Inoshi Baby Carrier is available in three different sizes, S (about 4.0m), M (about 4.5m)and L (about 5.0m). The size reflects the length of the sling. The sling is sewn entirely from Little Frog sling. There is a kind of "belt" sewn in the middle of the cloth, which is intended to secure the bag in any tying method and facilitate tying overall.

At one end, a small pocket is sewn in here, which can be used for keys or the like, for example. In addition, at the head edge in the middle is a small push button strip, to which a headrest or a bolster can be buttoned. These are included with the carrier. A little further to the side, markings are sewn into the head edge, which serve as orientation for even tightening, for example, when tying the single backpack. The weight per unit area of the Little Frog slings is rather low, so that it is also well suited for newborns and is easier to tighten than a very thick sling. Price-wise, the Inoshi Baby Carrier ranges from 175 to 185 Australian dollars, which is equivalent to 117 to 124€, depending on the size.

When carrying

The carrier seemed more complicated than a sling to me at first, though I have to say it was merely unfamiliar. With any tying method, the belly strap that is put on first secures the bag, which I think is a relief for some parents. Especially with the Single Backpack, the first thing to practice is that the pouch of the sling sits well under the baby's bottom. This is automatically the case with the Inoshi.

With other tying methods such as the wrap cross carrier, I found the belly band rather annoying. Since this binding method anyway very quickly becomes tight and the bag can hardly slip away here. However, it is practical that the headrest or neck roll can still be inserted in the Inoshi. At the same time, I like that this is only an option and they are removable, so they can be added or omitted depending on your needs.

Washing

According to the manufacturer, the carrier can be easily washed in the washing machine at 30 °. I washed the sling by hand and had no problems. However, since it is pure cotton and no buckles are integrated, machine washing should be just as possible.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, I was not completely convinced by the Inoshi Baby Carrier. In several places I find it more complicated than a sling, so I personally would prefer the sling. However, it also has its advantages. The belly band secures so always the bag, so that especially insecure parents would have an additional fixation with binding methods such as the Simple Backpack or the Kangaroo. Great I also find the supplement option of the headrest or bolster to achieve more stability.
