Karaush Adel Giraffe

In a huge test package of the dear Aga Sleiman was, among other things, a wonderful sling from the Russian manufacturer Karaush. The colors are already very suitable for autumn and I was excited about testing. Here you can read my experiences.

Information about the cloth and the manufacturer

Karaush was founded in Moscow in 2010. The manufacturer's stated goal is to provide physiological babywearing, while also paying special attention to material and style, they write on their website. At Karaush, in addition to slings, there are also various baby carriers. In Europe, slings from Karaush can be ordered, for example, through the Polish store carrylove.pl.

The sling in size 7 is priced at 78€. The website directly shows the price converted into euros. This makes it one of the low-priced slings, although shipping costs from abroad (non-EU) must be taken into account here. These are incurred when ordering directly from the manufacturer. The motif Adel is still available in other color combinations. The cloth was released in September 2015 as a limited edition. However, there are still a few scarves of this model available.

The colors of the shawl, with an ocher tone and a warm, light brown tone, are autumnal. The pattern looks traditional and stretches across the entire width of the cloth.

The basis weight of 290g/m² is in the higher range. If I had not weighed, I would have estimated the weight per unit area, however, significantly lower. The cloth seems already well registered and is soft. It was made with the Jaquard weave. As a result, the colors are exactly reversed on the other side.

When worn

The sling Adel Giraffe by Karaush was easy to tie with my 3 year old son. However, the sling was quite a bit too long for me for all tying methods, which bothered me. The cloth seems to be already tied a lot, so it could be tightened well and laid comfortably on the shoulders. I have nevertheless preferred multi-layer binding methods, because they support even more in addition to the high basis weight and the bamboo. Alternatively, the Simple Backpack with different finishes was also comfortable.

Even though the sling was already very soft, the smaller demo dolls from my consultations jammed the fabric a bit in the back of the knees. Otherwise, the sling could also be tied well here. The length of the sling was, however, also partially obstructive with the demo dolls. I personally would then buy a shorter sling. This shows that it is also important to buy the right sling length. Washing

The manufacturer recommends machine washing at 40 degrees. I have not washed the sling, as it is a test sling. Therefore, I can not judge this category.

Conclusion

The sling Adel Giraffe from Karaush is more versatile than I would have guessed from the basis weight. For newborns, it is not quite optimal, but can, with a little practice, tie well here. Prerequisite is that it is already well enter and thus soft. Qualitatively, I could not detect any defects such as weaving errors or thread pullers. The price-performance ratio is therefore very good!
